Season's eatings! The weather may be getting colder, but Dining Month on OnMilwaukee is just cooking up, dishing out your winning picks in this year's Best of Dining poll. Dining Month is brought to you by Fein Brothers, your premier food service equipment and supply dealer in Wisconsin since 1929. Congratulations to all of the winners, and happy eating for all those who voted!
Branded at the Iron Horse Hotel
Situated neatly in the motorcylcle-themed Iron Horse Hotel, Branded draws from that theme combining vintage modern decor with an industrial feel that's simultaneously classy and cozy. But, it's the cocktails served alongside a menu of that earned Branded accolades during thing month's dining poll.
And there's good reason for that. Branded's craft cocktail menu, created in conjunction with the local cocktail minds at Bittercube, includes something for everyone including well-crafted old fashioneds (both classic and Wisconsin style) and well-executed riffs on classics like The Last Carthusian, a sour featuring Chartreuse, Fernet-Branca, simple syrup and lime.
Runners up:
2. Odd Duck
3. Goodkind
4. Story Hill BKC
5. Buckley's
OnMilwaukee editors' pick: Buckley's
Lori Fredrich's pick: Goodkind
I’m so thrilled to see so many new cocktail menus cropping up across the city that are as worthy as the restaurant menus they accompany. But there’s one that has been doing it, and doing it well, since its inception. And that’s Goodkind. It’s a place where cocktails are never the afterthought; in fact their creation comes as a direct result of collaboration between the kitchen and the bar. They’re thoughtfully crafted by folks like Katie Rose, whose dedication to both creativity, craft and the use of fresh, seasonal ingredients puts her on a level equal to that of a chef in the kitchen.
